The new committee
take over the association after election held on 26-6-2011 under the observers of Orissa
Olympic Association and director of sports and subsequently the observers from
Badminton association of India ratified the election by giving affiliation to the new committee formed under
Presidentship of Mr.Dipak Basu and Secretary Mr.Pradip Mohanty.
After assuming the
committee have taken a great stride to
devlope badminton in our state with all odds.The expextation of badminton
fraternity becomes very high and committee has tried its best to fulfill expectations .
Till now we have not
got reply from the past Secretary regarding paperworks of association even the financial records.We have in dark about
our assets also.The Trophies were not available in the association as a result
we could not able to distribute the same during last state championship.
We could not able to
apply for grant to Director of sports due to non availability of paper works.Even
Director of sports stopped the grants of
previous years due non payment of penalty imosed by the RTI Commissioner of
Orissa on the past Secretary to the tune of Rs,25000.00.
Committee should
decide the appropriate action in this
regard
We have approached
the Indian overseas Bank ,Cuttack with all our paperworks regarding election
and they were accepted the legality of
the new committee and allowed to operate the account in their branch in the
name and style of Orissa State Badminton Association.
We have very little
time to plan and execute the calendar of BAI for the season but successfully we
executed as below.
We have conducted
the state championship for seniors and juniors(u-19) at J.N.Indoor Stadium
.Players from 17 districts
participated and the team was selected for
interstate championship and senior nationals and junior nationals (u-19)
We have participated
in East zone inter state badminton championship held at Madhubani Bihar with
teams of all categories .Our Mens team lost to Bengal in semifinal.As per the
manager of the team players were in good spirit and shown team spirit to win
matches ad gave their full strength.
We have conducted
the state championship for mini and subjunior at club house of Barabati Stadium
and players from 16 district participated,
The teams for
national under 17yrs /15yrs/13yrs was selected and participated in the nationals held at NewDelhi and Jeypore
There was no state
championship was conducted in Veteran category because of insufficient time. As
per BAI guideline the ID is a must for participating and due to paucity of
time we could not able to act as per requirement. Next season we will rectify our faults
The players were
played very well and obtained good
ranking in BAI
Our team
participated in S.R.Rungta memorial Invitation Tournament held at Chaibasa and become champion in doubles
event.

We were recognized
some tournament s in our state who have agreed to conduct the championships as
per BAI guideline as a result our
players will have match experience.We
allowed six such tournaments .but our observation was non of the
organizers did not adher to BAI
guideline.So tournament committee should look into this regard to stream line
recognized tournaments in future reviewing the past experiences.
We have taken over
the association with nil funds.We have no knowledge about the financial
position of the association as till date we could not able to get the paper
works from past secretary.Due to paucity of time we could not able to approach
the sponsors as well for grants we have suffered financial crunch and we
managed till date by short term borrowings.I request all our members to
contribute in any manner so that we can able to have cash flow to run the
association.
Now days Badminton Association of India
formulated lot of guidelines for streamline and populrise the game.Some of the
guidelines are :
Ø Players couldnot participate in any
championship without BAI ID.
Ø
The
entry closes before onemonth of championships
So we have to streamline our activities accordingly
After we assumed
office the expectations in badminton fraternity has gone up.There are requests
came from districts to be affiliated to the state body which is a good sign. A
subcommittee was was formed to have guidelines for affiliation who have
given its report for consideration by
council.
We hold subcommittee meetings and they have
recommended/suggested their opinions for development of Badminton in our state.

I proposed to have a site for our association.
I look forward the council should take appropriate actions
to the concerns and recommendations so
that the game of badminton will grow and definitely our players will performe
in betterway in all india level
