PROMOD -THE GOLDEN BOY OF ODISHA BADMINTON

Pramod Bhagat was born in Attabira Village of the then undivided Sambalpur district ( now in Bargarh), from childhood he was inclined to sports but at the age of 7 tragedy struck and he was affilicted with polio. Having the disability didn't hinder his zeal for sports he earlier used to play cricket but as he grew he took up the sport of badminton and soon it became his passion. He along with his two close friends used to practice on the roof of a friend's house as there was no court available in Attabira. Gradually he participated in outdoor tournaments in & around Sambalpur district and won many titles. Meanwhile he participated in national para badminton championship in 2006 for the first time. He has won numerous national titles in both singles & doubles and has won world championship medals in 2009,2013 & 2015 apart from winning bronze medal at Asian Games. He is a graduate with ITI degree too. 
He has won gold in singles & silver in doubles at last week's BWF para badminton championship in England making India proud once again.
He is the member and coach of Sambalpur badminton association He had given coaching to subjr players at Baripada also
