The new year is coming from April-2018.
Some changes is proposed in BAI calender to get maximum benefit by players as well the organisers.This will enable more no of championship with less cost and more prize money to players.
We request players as well other well wishers to go through the proposals and give more suggetions to include or amend for the betterment of the badminton.

This Year pool / cluster Tournaments shall be held during
April / May. Two all India Ranking Tournaments shall be held for Sub – juniors
before the end of the June, since the Indian team has to be selected for BAC
Junior Tournaments.
CHANGES PROPOSED FOR THE ALL INDIA JUNIOR & SUB JUNIOR
RANKING TOURNAMENTS, FROM 1
ST APRIL 2018.
In view of the number of entries received for qualifying Rounds of All India Ranking
Tournaments for Juniors & sub Juniors and for making these tournaments convenient for
participants & result oriented, these tournaments are proposed to be restructured.
In this effort, all the Zones, except Central Zone, have been further divided into 10 Sub
Zones/Clusters, as per Annexure – I attached.
The new structure of Junior & Sub Junior Ranking Tournaments is as under, which shall be
limited to All India Junior & Sub junior ranking Tournaments only. However, minor changes are
also being proposed for some other tournaments also.
I. U/13 Category ( Sub – Junior group – II)
II. Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Category – All India Sub Junior Ranking Tournaments for
U/15 & U/17.
III. Junior (U/19) Category – All India Junior Ranking Tournaments for U/19.
I. U/13 Category – Zonal Pool System ]
1. There shall be no All India Ranking Tournaments for U/13 Category players.
2. The District Championships, State Championships (to be conducted by respective
state associations) and National Championships shall be the mandatory
tournaments for U/13 category players (Sub – Junior group – II).
3. However, there may be Pool /Sub Zonal or Zonal level tournaments for this
category of players, and in case these tournaments are conducted then they
shall be conducted as follows.
i) There shall be no restriction on the number of entries from the member
associations, for these tournaments at Pool / Cluster level.
ii) The matches shall be conducted in U/13 Boys Singles, Boys Doubles, U/
13 Girls Singles & Doubles
iii) There shall be no Referee appointed by BAI. A qualified BAI Umpire from
host state or nearby state shall be appointed by the host association for
these tournaments.
iv) There shall be no Observer appointed by BAI.
v) No hospitality, with regard to food, accommodation & Transport, shall be
provided by the host organization.
vi) The entry fee shall be Rs. 500/- for Singles & Rs. 1000/- for Doubles.
vii) A player cannot participate in more than two events.

II. Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Ranking Tournaments.
In Sub Junior Ranking Tournaments, U/15 & U/17 categories have been clubbed together,
and in addition to eight events (U/15 Boys Singles & Doubles, U/15 Girls Singles & Doubles,
U/17 Boys Singles & Doubles, U/17 Girls Singles & Doubles),
2 Mixed Doubles events (U/15
& U/17) have also been included – Total 10 events.
The following 2 types of Ranking Tournaments shall be conducted under this category.
a) Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Tournaments at Pool / Cluster level.
1. There shall be no restriction on the number of entries from member associations in
these tournaments.
2. A player cannot participate in more than 2 events, in a category ( 2 in U/15 and 2 in
U/17 Age group).
3. There shall be minimum 2 Pool / Cluster tournaments in a year, one in May & one after
June
. 4. The entry fee shall be Rs. 500/- for Singles & Rs.1000/- for Doubles/Mixed Doubles.
5. Minimum Prize Money shall be Rs. 1, 00,000/- (One Lakh).
6. There shall be no Referee appointed by BAI. A qualified BAI Umpire from host state or
nearby state shall be appointed by the host association, as Referee, and the matches
shall be conducted by the local BAI qualified Umpires or state level Umpires.
7. There shall be no Observer from BAI. Detailed report on the tournament, including
complete results, shall be sent by the Hony. Secretary of the host state to the BAI, with
copies to Secretary Events & Chairman Tournament Committee.
8. No hospitality with regard to food, accommodation & Transport shall be provided by the
host organization.
9. The state associations falling in a Pool / Cluster, shall conduct these tournaments in
alphabetical order or whosoever state association wants to conduct on request.
However, if two Pools / Sub Zones of a Zone want to conduct these tournaments by joining
together, as Zonal Ranking Tournaments, they can do so. In that case:-
i) That Zone shall be entitled to send the entries equal to double of a
Sub Zone/Pool i.e. 16 in Singles, 8 in Doubles & 8 in Mixed Doubles for the All
India Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Ranking Tournaments.
ii) Prize Money for such Zonal tournaments shall be Rs. 2, 00,000/- (Two Lakh).

b) All India Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Ranking Tournaments.
1. There shall be no Qualifying Rounds in All India Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Ranking
Tournaments.
2. There shall be minimum 4 All India Ranking Tournaments for U/15 & U/17 categories
in a year i.e. 2 before June & 2 after June.
3. Each Pool / Cluster shall be entitled to send maximum 8 entries in Singles,
4 entries
in Doubles & 4 in Mixed Doubles for the All India Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17) Ranking
Tournaments, in each category.
4. In case two Pools / Clusters of a Zone jointly conduct these tournaments, as Zonal
Ranking Tournaments, then that Zone shall be entitled to send maximum 16 entries
in Singles, 8 entries in Doubles & 8 entries in Mixed Doubles for the All India Sub
Junior (U/15 & U/17) Ranking Tournaments, in each category.
5. A player cannot participate in more than 2 events, in one category.
6. Players appearing in top 50, as per BWF/BAC Ranking, shall be given direct entry in
these tournaments.
7. Top 8 players in Singles, 4 pairs in Doubles & 4 in Mixed Doubles, as per BAI Ranking,
shall be given direct entry in these tournaments.
8. Players figuring in first 4 in Singles, 2 in Doubles & 2 in Mixed Doubles in the
previous year’s Ranking list, having crossed over to next category due to age, shall
get direct entry in the next category.
9. If a player from a State / Pool / Zone wants to play Doubles with a player of another
state/Sub Zone/Zone, their entry can be considered from BAI quota of entries if the
pair is good and the case is genuine ( As per ranking or Inter National Player).
10. There shall be no wild card entries in these tournaments.
However, there shall be a
BAI special quota of maximum 4 entries in Singles, 2 in Doubles & 2 in Mixed
Doubles, in each category.
11. The minimum Prize Money for each Tournament shall be Rs. 6, 00,000/- (Six Lakh).
12. The entry fee shall be Rs.1000/- for Singles & Rs.1, 500/- for Doubles/Mixed Doubles.
13. Preferably boarding but minimum Working lunch shall be provided to all the players
on all the days of competition.
14. Observer & Technical Officials shall be appointed by BAI, as per the existing norms.
15. Duration of the tournament shall be 4 – 5 days, depending on the Courts available.

III. All India Junior (U/19) Ranking Tournaments.
These tournaments shall be conducted as per existing system i.e. both Qualifying Rounds &
Main Draws shall be conducted. The only changes proposed, are as under.
1. All the Junior Ranking Tournaments shall be conducted as a separate category, in
which U/19 Boys Singles & Doubles, U/19 Girls Singles & Doubles and U/19 Mixed
Doubles shall be conducted.
2. A player cannot participate in more than 2 events.
3. Minimum Prize Money for each tournament shall be Rs. 4, 00,000/- (Four Lakh).
4. Entry fee for Qualifying Rounds shall be Rs.1000/- for Singles & Rs.1, 500/- for
Doubles/Mixed Doubles.
5. Free boarding shall be provided by the host to the Main Draw players, for all days of
competition.
6. There shall be no wild card entries.
However, there will be BAI special quota of
maximum 4 entries in Singles, 2 in Doubles & 2 in Mixed Doubles.
IV. All India Senior Ranking Tournaments
All India Senior Ranking Tournaments shall be conducted as per the existing system i.e.
both Qualifying Rounds & Main Draw shall be conducted.
The only changes proposed, are as under.
1. The minimum Prize Money for each tournament shall be Rs. 6, 00,000/- (Six Lakh).
2. Entry fee for Qualifying Rounds shall be Rs. 1,000/- for Singles & Rs. 1,500/- for
Doubles/Mixed Doubles.
3. A player cannot participate in more than 2 events.
4. Free boarding shall be provided to all the Main Draw players, for all competition days.
5. There shall be no wild card entries. However, there will be BAI special quota of
maximum 4 entries in Singles, 2 in Doubles & 2 in Mixed Doubles.
V. Zonal Inter State & Individual Championships.
Mixed team Championships & Individual Events for Men, Women and Junior (U/19) Boys &
Girls shall be conducted as per the existing system.
The only change proposed is as under.

1. The total team from a participating State shall be maximum of 24 members, including
not more than 5 players each in Men, Women, Junior Boys & Junior Girls and maximum
4 officials.
VI. National Championships – Senior/ Junior/Sub Junior.
The Senior (Men & Women), Junior (U/19 Boys & Girls) & Sub Junior (U/15 & U/17 Boys &
Girls) Nationals, Sub Junior, Mini Nationals U /13 Boys & Girls shall be conducted as per the
existing system.
The only changes proposed are as under.
1. Prize Money shall be minimum Rs. 50 Lakh for Senior nationals, Rs. 10 Lakh for Junior
nationals & RS:- 10 Lakhs for Sub – Junior Nationals and Rs:- 3 Lakhs for Sub – Junior
group - II.
]2. There shall be no wild card entries. However, there shall be BAI special quota of
maximum 4 entries in Singles, 2 in Doubles & 2 in Mixed Doubles.
3. Free Boarding & Lodging shall be provided by the host organization to the each
participating team (including Zonal Qualifiers), as under.
i) Senior Nationals = 10 members + 2 for team event.
ii) Junior Nationals ( U/19) = 10 members + 2 for team event.
iii) Sub Junior Nationals = 14 members.
iv) Sub Junior Nationals (Mini) = 8 Members.
The number of officials with a team participating in Individual Events shall be maximum 3
(Three) & maximum 4 (four) for the team participating in Individual Events + Team events. 4. Boarding & Lodging charges for Extra players/officials shall be as under.
i) The players who are members of the team but over and above the free
hospitality quota, shall have to pay Rs. 750/- per head per day (minimum 3 days)
ii) Other members who are not part of team shall have to pay Rs. 1000/- per head
per day (minimum 3 days) towards Boarding & Lodging.
iii) Players having entries through BWF Ranking, BAI Ranking & BAI special quota,
shall have to pay Rs. 750/- per head per day (minimum 3 days) towards B & L.
iv) Those who require food only, shall have to pay Rs. 500/- pe3r head per day.
5. A player cannot participate in more than 2 events in the Individual Events of a National
in each category.

] 6. Eligibility of the teams for Inter Zonal Championships, during Junior & Senior nationals.
Junior Team Championship – All Zonal Winner Teams (Except Central Zone) + Host
team= Total 6 (Six) Teams.
Senior Team Championship – All 6 Zonal Winner teams + Host team + Inter Institutional
Winner Team = Total 8 Teams.
7. During Nationals, the Host organization shall provide the Boarding & Lodging as under. - Boarding shall be provided from one day before the competition (From Lunch
onwards), till the last day of the tournament (Finals). - Lodging shall be provided from one day before the competition (From 6 a.m.) till the
12 noon of the next day of the completion of the tournament (Finals). -
VII. BAI Special Quota of Entries
The entries under BAI special quota of entries provided in different tournaments, shall
be given depending on the previous performance of players, reasons like injury/illness &
merit of the case, with the approval of the President BAI. However, the President is
authorized to increase this quota in Doubles & Mixed Doubles.
General: - No Post – poonment of Tournament is permitted after finalize the calendar.
